Mammootty’s Dominic and The Ladies’ Purse is a comedy mystery à la The Pink Panther, Gokul Suresh reveals

Gokul Suresh, who will be playing a pivotal role in the Gautham Vasudev Menon movie Dominic and The Ladies’ Purse, spilled the beans on the genre of the film and his experience working with Mammootty

The poster and the teaser of Mammootty’s upcoming Dominic and The Ladies’ Purse have already got viewers eagerly anticipating its release. The movie, which marks Gautham Vasudev Menon’s first Malayalam directorial venture, is also backed by the megastar and recently, its cast member Gokul Suresh shared updates about the film’s genre and his experience working with the stalwarts.

Talking to the media on the sidelines of Kalidas Jayaram’s wedding, Gokul shared his excitement of being part of Dominic and The Ladies’ Purse and the importance he received for his role.

The actor said that he never thought he would get such significance in its teaser, which had Mammootty teaching his character how to tackle a group of goons, or the movie, in which his character’s screentime was extended.

“It was a huge experience getting to work with a 'veteran youngster' like Mammootty uncle. I could learn so much without him even teaching me anything. It was like attending a university for 25 days,” he said. “Initially, my character was there only in the first half, but that got extended.”

Further on the movie, Gokul explained that it will elements seen in comedy mysteries such as The Pink Panther. This confirms the intial rumours about Mammootty’s character that said he would be playing a private investigator in the film, which also has Lena, Vineeth, Siddique and Viji Venkatesh in supporting roles.

Gokul, who was last seen in the superhit film Gaganachari, also talked about how criticism about superstar movies is sometimes too harsh . “I hope every movie that I do gives me a break,” he said. “Every time I watch a movie, even those done by senior actors, and then hear the criticism they are subjected to, I feel disheartened. People, especially our senior actors, put their blood, sweat and tears into each film; no one goes out of their way to do a bad movie. So, maybe it’s the expectations of the audiences that is leading to these reactions.”
