Director Lijo Jose Pellissery and Mammootty completed shooting for their feature film Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakam in Palani recently. Despite the delay due to the rains in Tamil Nadu, the movie, which is also produced by Mammootty, was shot in a single schedule of less than a month.

Mammootty is rumoured to be playing a petty thief in the film, according to rumours. Apart from the star, the film also has Tamil actress Ramya Pandian and Ashokan. The latter is teaming up with Mammootty for the first time since their 1991 film Amaram. Ashokan had said that the movie is different from the previous movies that Lijo Jose Pellissery had done and that all characters have equal prominence.

While the shoot of Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakam is wrapped up, Lijo and Mammootty still have to complete the segment of the upcoming Netflix anthology, which is based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s short stories. Their segment, which is reportedly titled Kadugannawa Oru Yathra, is based on a memoir of the writer and revolves around him tracing the roots of a Sinhalese girl he had met when he was young.

Mammootty, meanwhile, is expected to join the sets of CBI 5 by December 10. The movie, which went on floors on November 29, will have Mammootty reprising his role as Sethurama Iyer CBI. Asha Sharath, Renji Panicker, Ramesh Pisharody, Sai Kumar, Malavika Menon and Mukesh are also part of the cast of the film, which is scripted by SN Swamy.
