Mammootty fans have been gearing up for the release of the megastar’s upcoming investigative thriller CBI 5: The Brain, which promises to be a treat for those who have followed the previous Sethurama Iyer movies as well as new audiences. The makers have now released the latest poster from the movie featuring the other pivotal characters in the film.

The new poster, which Mammootty shared on his social media page, features a familiar face as well as new additions to the cast. Mukesh, who will be reprising his character as Chacko in the upcoming release, is present along with new characters in the 34-year-old franchise including those essayed by Renji Panicker, Saikumar, Ramesh Pisharody, Soubin Shahir, Asha Sharath, Dileesh Pothan and Prashanth Alexander.

The teaser of the movie, which was released earlier this month, hinted that Sethurama Iyer will be taking up a case related to the deaths of the Gandhi family. The poster hints that Pisharody, Panicker and Alexander could form the new CBI team led by Iyer. Anoop Menon and Saikumar play police officers in the movie, which has Asha Sharath as a lawyer and Dileesh Pothan as Kerala chief minister. Soubin’s character has been kept as a surprise.

Soubin and Dileesh shared screen space earlier this year with Mammootty in the superhit Amal Neerad-directorial Bheeshma Parvam, which is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. While CBI 5: The Brain is expected to hit theatres worldwide on April 28, the movie’s digital rights have reportedly been sold to Hotstar for a record price to stream it on OTT after its theatrical run.

The movie, directed by K Madhu and scripted by SN Swamy, marks the fifth instalment in the franchise, which had its previous entry – Nerariyan CBI – in 2005. The upcoming film has Jakes Bejoy composing its music as well as adding a contemporary twist to the iconic theme music.
