Mammootty, Mohanlal and Mahesh Narayanan film’s budget revealed; Megastar’s most expensive project yet?

The upcoming Mammootty-Mohanlal starrer, directed by Mahesh Narayanan, is set to go on floors soon. A major update on the budget of the multi-starrer film is now revealed.

Mammootty and Mohanlal, the biggest superstars of the Malayalam film industry are all set to reunite for a project soon. As reported earlier, the Drishyam actor has been roped into playing a pivotal role in the upcoming Mahesh Narayanan film, which stars the Bramayugam actor in the lead role. The untitled project marks the iconic duo’s onscreen reunion after a long gap of around 16 years. As per the reports, the Mammootty-Mohanlal starrer is made with a massive budget and is set to emerge as the megastar’s most expensive project, to date.

Mammootty-Mohanlal project’s budget revealed

According to the recent reports by a leading Malayalam daily, the untitled Mammootty-Mohanlal starrer, directed by Mahesh Narayanan is being made with a whopping budget of around Rs. 80 crore. The movie, which is touted to be the most expensive project made in the career of the Kaathal: The Core actor, is expected to have an extensive shooting schedule that will pan over six months. The ambitious project is jointly produced by Mammootty and Antony Perumbavoor, under the prestigious banners Mammootty Kampany and Aashirvad Cinemas.

For the uninitiated, the Mammootty starrer directed by Mahesh Narayanan was originally supposed to star Suresh Gopi, the actor-politician, in a pivotal role. However, the action superstar turned down the offer due to his busy schedule, and the role eventually went to Mohanlal. As reported earlier, the Neru actor’s portions in the film will be shot in one or two schedules, that will last for over 30 days in total. The project is also expected to star Fahadh Faasil and Kunchacko Boban, in pivotal roles.

De-aging technology in the Mammootty-Mohanlal project

As reported earlier, director Mahesh Narayanan and his team are planning to make use of the de-aging technology in the upcoming untitled multistarrer.  This technology is reportedly being used in the flashback portions of the film, which is expected to feature the characters played by Mammootty and Mohanlal. Even though the Bramayugam actor is appearing as the protagonist in the film, the L2 Empuraan’s star’s character reportedly holds equal importance.
