The megastar’s much-anticipated gangster thriller, helmed by Amal Neerad, is set to announce its release date soon
The wait for Mammootty’s Bheeshmaparvam will soon be over. The team of the Amal Neerad directorial are all set to release its teaser along with unveiling the movie’s revised release date, according to recent reports.
The movie, which was initially set to hit theatres on February 24, will most certainly push its release date by a bit to avoid clash with Mohanlal’s Aaraattu that will now release on February 18. Rumours suggest that the makers of Bheeshmaparvam are looking for a March 3 release date.
This will mean that the gangster thriller will clash with Dulquer Salmaan’s Tamil movie Hey Sinamika, which is directed by choreographer-turned-filmmaker Brinda and also has Kajal Aggarwal and Aditi Rao Hydari. Considering it’s a Tamil movie, the number of theatres in Kerala for Hey Sinamika would have anyway been limited, but it would mean that the fans of the two stars will be spoilt for choice on March 3.
Bheeshmaparvam will mark Mammootty’s first theatrical release after the second lockdown. The movie, which marks Mammootty's second collaboration with Amal after Big B, is set in the mid 1980s and has the megastar playing a former gangster turned entrepreneur, who is forced to go back to his old ways after his family is threatened.
The movie also has Soubin Shahir, Shine Tom Chacko, Sudev Nair, Ramzan, Sreenath Bhasi, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Nadiya Moidu, Dileesh Pothan, Nedumudi Venu, Veena Nandakumar and Srinda in pivotal roles.
Meanwhile, Hey Sinamika is a romcom that marks the debut directorial of Brinda. The movie is Dulquer’s first Tamil release since the pandemic. His previous film was Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal that hit theatres just before the pandemic in February 2020.
Mammootty and Dulquer also have two more films lined up for release – Ratheena Sharshad’s Puzhu and Rosshan Andrrews’ Salute, respectively. While the latter is rumoured to drop on OTTs, the release date of Salute is yet to be announced.
