Mammootty will be reprising his role in the Mahi V Raghav directorial, while Dulquer Salmaan will be seen in an exciting role in this Telugu venture
Post the stupendous success of Sita Ramam, it’s safe to say that Dulquer Salmaan has as much fans in Telugu as he does in other parts of the country. So, it’s no wonder that the Malayalam superstar has already begun work on his next Telugu movie. This time, however, his dad and megastar Mammootty is also shooting in the industry for another big budget film.
While Dulquer had kicked off the shoot of Sir director Venky Atluri’s Lucky Bhaskar Mammootty is reprising his role as YS R ajasekhara Reddy in Mahi V Raghav’s sequel to Yatra.

Mammootty to play a chief minister again
Mammootty, who is also gearing up for the release of his Malayalam movie Kannur Squad, began the shoot of Yatra 2 a few days ago in Hyderabad. The film, which will have him reprise the role of the former Andhra Pradesh CM , will reportedly focus on his son and current AP chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Tamil actor Jiiva is reportedly set to play the lead role in the movie.
Incidentally, Mammootty has stayed away from playing chief ministers throughout his career. He has only played the role in a Tamil movie prior to Yatra. Since then he had also essayed the role of Kerala chief minister in One, which released after the pandemic.
Dulquer to team up with Meenakshi Chaudhary in Lucky Bhaskar
Meanwhile, Lucky Bhaskar will also have Meenakshi Chaudhary as its female protagonist. The movie, which is also written by Venky, is touted to be a financial thriller and revolves around a common man’s “ascent to unbelievable heights”. Kurup and King of Kotha cinematographer Nimish Ravi will also be making his Telugu debut with the film, which has GV Prakash as its composer.
Mammootty and Dulquer’s films to clash on OTT
The final week of September will also see a clash of Mammootty and Dulquer-starrers on OTT. While Dulquer’s King of Kotha is expected to release in multiple languages on Disney+ Hotstar on September 28, Mammootty’s Agent will hit Sony LIV on September 29. The latter also has Akhil Akkineni in the lead and is said to have undergone major changes for its OTT release.
