The period gangster thriller, which is still running in theatres, has already become the megastar’s highest grossing Malayalam film ever
Mammootty and director Amal Neerad’s gangster thriller Bheeshma Parvam will continue its successful run, now on a streaming platform. The film, which has already grossed more than Rs 85 crore worldwide from its theatrical run, is set to release on Disney+ Hotstar in April, according to reports.
Bheeshma Parvam could reportedly follow movies such as Pranav Mohanlal’s Hridayam and Unni Mukundan’s Meppadiyan, which played in both theatres as well as OTTs. However, this seems unlikely, considering that big releases such as RRR will be getting a wide-release in Kerala as well as other revenue centres for Malayalam cinema.

While the makers are yet to confirm the OTT release platform, it’s widely rumoured to be Hotstar as Asianet had snapped up its satellite rights. The movie is expected to drop on the OTT service, which is also streaming Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Hridayam, Mohanlal and Prithviraj’s Bro Daddy and Manju Warrier and Biju Menon’s Lalitham Sundaram, in April.
This will mark Mammootty’s second OTT release in April, with Ratheena Sharshad’s Puzhu also set to be a direct-to-OTT release on Sony LIV next month. Puzhu is an intense family thriller, which has the megastar playing a negative character after a while. The movie revolves around the underlying trust issues between a father and a son, and how it affects their dynamics. Parvathy Thiruvothu is also part of the movie, which will mark Mammootty’s first direct-to-OTT release.
The megastar, meanwhile, also has a theatrical release coming up next month with K Madhu’s CBI 5 – The Brain. The movie will have him reprise the role of sleuth Sethurama Iyer along with Mukesh and Jagathy Sreekumar returning. The actor also has completed shooting for Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam and Surender Reddy’s Telugu action thriller Agent, which has Akhil Akkineni in the lead.
