Actress Mallika Sherawat is grabbing the eyeballs with her recent shocking accusations about how she was subjected to blatant casting couch in Bollywood and had lost out on numerous projects because she refused to give in. “It’s very simple—they like actresses who they can control and who will compromise with them," she said in an interview with the Hindustan Times.
Mallika explained that her personality isn't like that at all. Giving an example, she further told the publication, "If the hero calls you at 3 am and says, ‘Come to my house’, you have to go, if you are in that circle and if you are doing that film. If you don’t go, then you are out of the film.”
In one of her older interviews with Prabhat Khabar, the actress also compared her role in Emraan Hashmi and Ashmit Patel starter Murder with that of Deepika Padukone in the Shakun Batra directorial Gehraiyaan. But, in her opinion, she received a lot of flak for Murder as the audience was not so evolved back in those days.
She said that a lot of hue and cry was created when she did bold scenes in Murder and that people had all kinds of things to say about her bikini scenes and kissing scenes on screen. "What Deepika Padukone did in Gehraaiyaan, I did that 15 years ago, but people were too narrow-minded back then,” she told the publication.
The actress, who was last seen as Gulabo in Rajat Kapoor’s directorial venture (he was the lead in it, too) RK/RKay, said that she has been ‘tortured’ mentally by a section of the media and film industry alike. Mallika said that the only thing that these people talked about was her body and the glamour quotient she brought to the table, not her acting skills. "I worked in Dashavataram, Pyaar Ke Side Effects and Welcome but none talked about my acting,” the actress further shared with the publication.
