Earlier, Nivin and Dijo shared an announcement video giving us the impression that Malayalee From India might be an out-and-out comedy entertainer. The promo video also carried the tagline, "Nivin Pauly is back." Many expected a hilarious comedy-drama from Nivin Pauly, who made a career doing such movies in the past.
In the last few years, Nivin Pauly has been experimenting with his characters, trying to redefine his onscreen image. While some have worked, most of them have failed to fetch desired results. And Malayalee From India was expected to show Nivin as a more easy-going character, or so we assumed.

Multiple people warn the hero's mother about the dangers lurking around her son and how his path will lead him to face dire consequences. It seems all the prophecies about the hero are correct, as he seems to have a penchant for getting into trouble.

Malayalee From India seems like a high-voltage political drama, exploring themes of social unrest, crime and punishment, and the human cost of violence. The upcoming film promises to offer a thought-provoking socio-political drama similar to the director's blockbuster Jana Gana Mana.
Jana Gana Mana was released in cinemas in 2022 and became a huge hit at the box office. The film gained nationwide popularity following its streaming debut on Netflix. The film tackled the issues of growing intolerance and political corruption that enable all types of violence in the country.
Malayalee From India is due in cinemas on May 1. The film also stars Dhyan Sreenivasan and Anaswara Rajan in lead roles.
