Though 2018 is still going strong, several other Malayalam films are also releasing on OTT and in theatres
While Jude Anthany Joseph’s 2018 is still going strong in theatres, this week has several Malayalam movies releasing in theatres and OTT platforms. Though none of them feature big stars like the previous two weeks, the movies still cater to a diverse group of audience.
If you have already watched Fahadh Faasil’s Pachuvum Athbutavilakkum and Tovino Thomas, Asif Ali-starrer 2018, which is based on the Kerala floods, in theatres and have caught up on the OTT releases such as Kunchacko Boban’s Enthaada Saji and Nivin Pauly’s Thuramukham, then take your pick from this week’s latest Malayalam releases. Here’s the list of the films to watch during the weekend.
Vichitram
Release platform: Amazon Prime Video
Debutant director Achu Vijayan’s mystery-thriller that also has supernatural elements, revolves around a dysfunctional family of a mother and his five sons. The family, who are struggling to make ends meet, decide to move into their mother’s ancestral property after her estranged brother passes away. What awaits them there is a series of unexpected incidents and dark secrets. Shine Tom Chacko, Ketaki Narayan, Balu Varghese and Lal are part of the movie.
Vichithram movie review: A potent slow-burner about a broken family in a haunted house
Janaki Jaane

Janaki, a printing press employee, suffers from panic disorder and is scared of even the minutest of things. But after Unni Mukundan, a contractor, falls for her and proposes to her, she chooses to get married. Things, however, turn topsy turvy when an unexpected incident introduces further panic into her life and she has to overcome it. Navya Nair, Saiju Kurup, George Kora, Anarkali, Sharafudheen and Kottayam Nazeer star in this family entertainer, helmed by Aniesh Upaasana.
Neymar

Two carefree youngsters, who have just finished their plus-2 exams, decide to bring in a dog named Neymar into their lives. Little do they know the chaos that accompanies Neymar, and this sets them on a whirlwind journey from Kerala to Tamil Nadu, with their dad hot on their tails. The movie, helmed by Sudhi Maddison, has Naslen, Mathew Thomas, Vijayaraghavan and Shammi Thilakan as part of the cast.
