Veteran Malayalam actor and scriptwriter Sreenivasan was put on ventilator support again on Wednesday in a hospital in Kochi after developing an infection following his heart surgery.

The actor, who was admitted to the hospital last Thursday after complaints of chest pain, was diagnosed with triple vessel disease and had undergone surgery on March 31. He was on ventilator support for three days after the medical procedure. However, later he developed an infection that prompted the doctors to put him on ventilator support again.

Doctors from the hospital say that he is responding to the treatment and his health has shown signs of improvement, according to reports. The 66-year-old actor was put on ventilator support in 2019 too after he had suffered a minor heart failure and his blood pressure had shot up. He began acting actively again only last year, after the health scare.

Sreenivasan will next be seen in Sathyan Anthikad’s Makal, which also has Jayaram, Meera Jasmine, Devika Sanjay, Naslen and Innocent. The movie, which is touted to be a family entertainer, is set to hit theatres on April 29. Frequent collaborators Sreenivasan and Sathyan had previously teamed up for Fahadh Faasil’s Njan Prakashan in 2018 for which the former had also written the screenplay.

The multiple-time State Award-winning actor, scriptwriter and director is also part of Rajisha Vijayan’s upcoming cyber thriller Keedam, which is helmed by Rahul Riji Nair. Sreenivasan plays Rajisha’s father in the movie.

The actor is also set to team up with sons Vineeth and Dhyan in upcoming movies Kurukan and H, respectively. Both films are yet to go on floors. The veteran actor had previously united with Vineeth in Aravindante Athidhikal and Dhyan in Kuttymama.

Sreenivasan was last seen in Kunchacko Boban’s Mohan Kumar Fans, which is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. He was also part of Pyali last year.
