Mohanlal’s Malaikottai Vaaliban is currently being filmed in Chennai
Superstar Mohanlal’s Malaikottai Vaaliban promises to be double the fun, if recent rumours are to be believed. The latest update on the big budget period film hints that Mohanlal will be seen in a dual role for the Lijo Jose Pellissery directorial, which is currently being filmed in Chennai.
Earlier, the makers had revealed that the actor will be seen in multiple get-ups in the movie, which is reported to be set in different timelines. Now, it seems that the superstar will be seen in two different roles in Malaikottai Vaaliban, which also has Danish Sait, Sonalee Kulkarni, Katha Nandi, Hareesh Peradi and Italian actor Andrea Ravera in pivotal roles.
The makers had released a teaser of the movie, which has Mohanlal as a wrestler on his birthday. The first look poster of the film also hinted at the actor essaying the role of a powerful wrestler with a Sikh background.
The past week, the film’s producer Shibu Baby John had provided another important update, dismissing rumours that Mohanlal’s character was based on the life of wrestler Ghulam Mohammed Baksha aka The Great Gama, whose training methods had even inspired Hollywood legend Bruce Lee.
The team of Malaikottai Vaaliban, which had begun shooting in Rajasthan in January this year, are scheduled to wrap up filming by June end. The movie is also expected to hit theatres in December, as per trade analyst Sridhar Pillai. There are also reports that Malaikottai Vaaliban will be a Vishu 2024 release. The makers are yet to officially confirm either of the release dates.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal is also set to complete shooting for the Malayalam-Telugu bilingual titled Vrushabha, which again is set in multiple timelines. The father-son emotional action drama is helmed by Kannada filmmaker Nanda Kishore. Post this film, he will join the sets of L2: Empuraan, which will be helmed by Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Mohanlal’s next release is expected to be Rajinikanth’s Jailer in Tamil as well as Jeethu Joseph’s Ram, which is also an action-thriller.
