As fans are waiting with bated breath for the promised first look poster of Mohanlal’s much-awaited Malaikottai Vaaliban on Vishu, the team has already begun work on getting the second schedule of the movie rolling.

The film’s director Lijo Jose Pellissery and team recently wrapped up its first schedule after a lengthy schedule spanning over 90 days, spread across Jaisalmer and Pokhran. Though the film went on floors officially only in January this year, Lijo’s team had been busy at work, especially erecting the massive sets in Jaisalmer, from October 2022.

In a recent video from the sets of the film, Lijo said that it was hard work of the crew that made shooting the film possible in a place like Rajasthan, where the circumstances and logistics were challenging. “This film had a lot of sequences that were massive in scale and could not have been easily shot,” he said, adding that the team could successfully pull it despite the challenges that were thrown their way.

Now, the film’s chief associate director Tinu Pappachan tells us that the second schedule of the movie is being planned in Chennai. While Tinu didn’t reveal the timeline of when they will resume shoot, the team is expected to start the second schedule by the second week of May.

The schedule, which is set to go for 40 days, will also have the actor shoot portions with three heroines including Sonalee Kulkarni. It’s understood that Mohanlal will be travelling to Tunisia and the UK to complete the filming of Jeethu Joseph’s Ram, only after he wraps up Malaikottai Vaaliban. Ram is also expected to miss its Onam release date.

With Mohanlal being away due to his acting commitments, director TK Rajeevkumar, who is the chief associate of Barroz, is currently overseeing the dubbing work of the superstar’s 3D directorial debut. The makers had initially planned a March 2023 release for Barroz but it will now be pushed to Christmas 2023, with the team still working on its CGI.

Mohanlal, meanwhile, has also wrapped up the shoot his extended cameo in Rajinikanth’s Jailer and is expected to begin work on Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Empuraan in August this year.
