Malayalam could not keep calm when it was announced that Lijo Jose Pellissery would be teaming up with Mohanlal for the director’s next. Fans have been keeping their eyes and ears peeled for all and any updates regarding the film, titled Malaikottai Vaaliban. Just days after the first schedule of the film wrapped up, the makers had a treat in store for fans, when they announced that Mohanlal’s first look from the film will be released on Friday. Sure enough, fans’ excitement was at its peak, and when the first look from the upcoming period drama finally dropped, fans could not keep calm in the least.

The first look featured Mohanlal in an intense avatar, holding thick robes with a chain around his neck, with the moon shining at his back. Fans were excited to say the least to see the megastar in this avatar, and the first look definitely seemed to live up to the hype. “Get ready to witness the true wonder”, wrote one user. “Can hope for the best acting performance from Mohanlal after a while” wrote another. Another user spoke of how the upcoming film has what it takes to beat all kinds of records existing in the Malayalam film industry today.

In addition to Mohanlal, the upcoming film also features Katha Nandi, Sonalee Kulkarni and Danish Sait in pivotal roles as well. The film is scripted by PS Rafeeque.

Malaikottai Vaaliban will be released in theatres in 2024.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal was last seen in Shaji Kailas’ Alone, and will be making his directorial debut with the upcoming film Barroz: The Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure. Lijo’s last directorial came in the form of Mammootty starrer Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakam, which is available for streaming on Netflix.
