Indian 2 - Makers of Kamal Haasan-Shankar's film release special poster for Tamil New Year

We had earlier reported that Indian 2, the upcoming Tamil film starring Kamal Haasan in the lead role, is set to release in June in theatres. On Sunday, for the occasion of Tamil New Year, the makers of the film released a new poster to treat the fans. The film is directed by S Shankar.

New poster of Indian 2 out
The new poster shows two frames of the iconic character from the film. While one dons a Nehru-style cap and a khaki uniform, the other one is seen wearing a white shirt and giving the iconic Varmakalai pose. "Senapathy is all set to resurrect with zero tolerance in INDIAN-2," reads the photo caption.
Indian 2 is the direct sequel to the 1996 Tamil vigilante action film Indian, which starred Kamal Haasan in dual roles. The film followed the life of a former freedom fighter who doubles up as a vigilante in modern times to eliminate those who engage in corruption. Kamal Haasan also played the son who is involved in bribery. The film was a commercial success and marked one of the iconic characters the actor has played over the years. Director Shankar, who helmed the first part, wields the megaphone yet again for the sequel.

Indian 2 is set to release in June. A release date is expected to be announced closer to the release. Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies are bankrolling the film together. The film also stars Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kalidas Jayaram, Gulshan Grover, Nedumudi Venu, Vivek, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Guru Somasundaram, Delhi Ganesh, Jayaprakash, Manobala, Vennela Kishore and Deepa Shankar, among others.

Anirudh Ravichander has replaced AR Rahman as the composer. The post-theatrical streaming rights have been bagged by Netflix. It is to be noted that the film will also have a third part, Indian 3.
