Makers of Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts admit to accidentally using Emma Roberts’ photograph

The reunion special, which marked the franchise completing 20 years, premiered on Amazon Prime Video on January 1.

Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts certainly took audiences on a nostalgia ridden adventure, as all their favourites from the wizarding world reunited yet again. But in one part of the almost two hour long special, which concerned Emma Watson, some eagle-eyed fans noticed something was a little off.

In a scene where Watson talks about her childhood, a photograph of a young girl is shown. Viewers were quick to point out that the girl in the photo was not Watson, but was in fact American actress Emma Roberts. The photograph in question was one which Roberts had shared on her Instagram handle in 2012.

The producers of the special recently admitted to their mistake. According to a report in Entertainment Weekly, the producers said that the inclusion of the photograph had been an ‘editing mistake’, praising fans for spotting the same. They also mentioned that the mistake would be corrected soon and a new version of the special would be put up soon.

The Harry Potter film franchise is based on the popular book series of the same name by J. K. Rowling. The franchise started with the 2001 film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and ended with the eighth instalment Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011). Several of the films’ stars returned for the reunion special, including Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson,Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, and Evanna Lynch.
