Major Saab completes 25 years! Actress Nafisa Ali shares a heartfelt note

Nafisa Ali Sodhi played a key role in Major Saab

Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Sonali Bendre, Nafisa Ali, Ashish Vidhyarthi and the late Navin Nischol starrer action film Major Saab was released on June 26, 1998. Written by Robin Bhatt and Santhosh Saroj, and directed by Tinnu Anand, the movie was widely appreciated by the audience and critics alike. 2023 marks 25 years of Major Saab.

The plot revolves around an Army Major, named Jasbir Singh Rana, who decides to tame a persistent rule breaker Virendra Pratap Singh (aka Veer), who is bent on being discharged. However the trainee changes his plan when he falls in love and needs the Major’s help in rescuing his beau. The movie was primarily shot at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune, including the popular track Sona Sona.

Reminiscing about the film, Nafisa - who played the role of Dr Priya Rana in it - took to Instagram to share a heartfelt note. “It’s been 25 years since I acted in the film ‘Major Saab’ … shot at the National Defence Academy mainly in Khadakwasla near Pune. Nafisa was last seen in ZEE5’s Sooraj Barjatya-directed adventure drama film Uunchai - starring Amitabh, Parineeti Chopra, Neena Gupta and Sarika, among others. Meanwhile another film, Max, Min and Meowzaki written and directed by Padmakumar Narasimhamurthy, was named the ‘Best Film’ during the Indo-German Film Week in Berlin recently. The romantic drama film features Nafisa Ali, Vidhatri Bandi, Mandira Bedi, Adil Hussain and Nassar in key roles.
