Maja Talkies, the popular Kannada comedy talk show modelled on the The Kapil Sharma Show, had been on a hiatus for a while, but now, showrunner and host Srujan Lokesh has announced its return. A few weeks ago, Srujan had hinted that he’s bringing the show back, but had no timeline or cast details in place at the time. Earlier today, he took to social media to reveal when Maja Talkies returns and his new team.

Maja Talkies to begin once Bigg Boss Kannada ends

In the new promo of Maja Talkies, Srujan announced that the new season of the show will premiere on Colors Kannada on February 1, 2025, in what is the slot held by Bigg Boss Kannada earlier. Maja Talkies can also be streamed on JioCinema. With the 11th season of the Kannada reality show Bigg Boss Kannada expected to have its grand finale over January 25-26, Maja Talkies will begin the following weekend, presumably at 9 pm.

This time around, Srujan has made quite a few changes to the cast, with a lot of new entrants from Maja Bharath. While Kuri Pratap and Vishwa were part of the previous season too, joining them are the likes of Chandraprabha, Priyanka (Agnisakshi fame), Thukali Santhosh, Vinod Gobaragala, Priyanka Kamath, Shivu, Mimicry Gopi and Yogaraj Bhat.

Missing this season are Indrajit Lankesh, late Aparna Vastarey, Shwetha Chengappa, Mimicry Dayanand, V Manohar, Mandya Ramesh, Naveen Padil and Pavan, apart from several actors who were introduced for the plot development.

After winding up Maja Talkies, Srujan had produced and hosted/judged shows like Raja Rani, Nannamma Super Star, Family Gangstars, while also focusing on his directorial debut, Ghosts in Trouble, a horror comedy that will be in theatres shortly. On the big screen, he was last seen in Ellide Illi Tanaka, which was directed by Tejaswi, who directed most of the first season of Maja Talkies.
