Main Atal Hoon Twitter review - The film may lack luster, but Pankaj Tripathi is at the top of his game

Main Atal Hoon, the biopic on former Indian PM, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, released today in theatres. The film has garnered quite a buzz, & it’s mostly thanks to Pankaj Tripathi’s top-notch performance.

Main Atal Hoon, starring Pankaj Tripathi as the eponymous character of former Indian PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was also a Bharat Ratna recipient, the highest civilian honour in the country.

The film was released today in theatres and has garnered a mixed bag of reviews from critics and fans. Most critics and a few viewers have found the storyline too event-oriented and less narrative, becoming boring in some places.

But renowned movie buff and critic Taran Adarsh reviewed the film and gave it three and a half stars, along with appreciation and acknowledgement of the massive task it managed to pull off with minimal flaws and errors. He further highlighted Pankaj Tripathi’s performance for not going "overboard" or "making it caricaturist".

X, formerly Twitter, users were generous in their appreciation of the film. It is not difficult to understand why fans would connect so well with the film and Vajpayee’s depiction. The precise depiction of historic and socio-political events, as well as Tripathi’s nuanced and accurate portrayal of the late three-time Prime Minister won the hearts of viewers.

The film may not have clicked among the critics, but it has found its niche among viewers in an emotional alley, which will be more than enough to get it through. For the rest, Pankaj Tripathi’s powerhouse performance is strong enough and worthy enough to deflect criticism.
