Seasoned screenwriter V Vijayendra Prasad is quite upbeat about his next movie with his son SS Rajamouli, which will star Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu in the lead. In a recent interview, he revealed that the script is fast nearing completion and he was shaping on the lines of Hollywood filmmaker Steven Spielberg's iconic adventurous series, Indiana Jones.

“It will be an adventure-action drama, with lots of emotions, like Raiders of the Lost Ark [1981]. My script should be complete by July, after which I will give it to my son. We hope to make it a franchise, but who knows? We are leaving the climax open-ended, thus exploring the possibility of a sequel," Vijayendra told Mid-Day recently.

Barring a few exceptions, Vijayendra has scripted most of Rajamouli's directorial venture. He was also part of the director's latest global hit RRR. He was credited as the writer of the film's story, which explored a blindspot in history. RRR was inspired by the two Telugu tribal leaders who fought against the British Raj. Although the two iconic leaders, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, never crossed paths in reality, the movie imagines a fictional scenario where they form a deep friendship and unite in rebellion against the imperialistic regime. The movie was a big hit, not just in India, but across the world. And it created history by bagging an Oscar for composer MM Keeravani's dance number Naatu Naatu.

The success of RRR has created quite a hype for Rajamouli's next movie with Mahesh Babu . The pre-production work of the movie is going on in full swing and is expected to go on the floors soon. Earlier, Rajamouli had described the as “a globetrotting action-adventure film”. According to several reports, Rajamouli is planning to shoot this movie across Africa. And all the little revelations from the cast and crew are adding to the excitement around the project.
