Music videos weren't exactly commonplace in Telugu land for a long time and it took a while for mainstream Telugu film actors have begun to embrace the idea wholeheartedly. After the likes of Satyadev, Nivetha Pethuraj, and Keerthy Suresh, it's now the turn of Life is Beautiful actor Sudhakar Komakula to try his hand at a music video. Titled Lollipop, Sudhakar Komakula's music video, conceptualised and produced by S Krishna, also features Ananya Sharma, Jai Jasti and Meghana Sunil. Lollipop was cinematographed, edited and directed by Vinay Shanmukh.

Lollipop, apart from Telugu, will also release in Hindi, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages shortly. The Telugu version of the music video was launched by Sarkaru Vaari Paata star Mahesh Babu earlier today. Sung by the most-happening playback singer in the tinsel town, Sid Sriram, the number is lyricised by Suresh Banisetti. The video takes one through the journey of two childhood sweethearts Ravi and Anu and the highs and lows in their relationship.

The video starts with a youngster (Sudhakar Komakula) in the middle of a petty fight in a street and a girl (Ananya Sharma) races past him to join a group, dancing impromptu to a song in front of a mall. The guy is smitten by the girl instantly and follows her wherever she goes, gradually earning her interest as well. He does everything to catch a glimpse of the girl and can't wait to express his love for her.

Meanwhile, the focus shifts to a school-going girl who falls for her senior but the latter hardly cares for her, He treats her poorly whenever she takes the initiative to talk to him. Even when she gifts him a lollipop on her birthday, he royally ignores her and passes it to another girl standing beside him. The girl still cares for him despite not receiving much response from his end. The contrast in situations of the young couple and the school-going kids create a unique impact.

Just when we're wondering where the story is headed, the girl invites the guy for a dance event at her college and the latter finds a way to get into another petty quarrel in the college premises. After much drama, he is asked to leave the college. What connects these two stories? The predictable yet smartly executed twist in the climax ensures a happy ending and brings a smile to your face. Shot entirely in Vizag, it's hard not to be bamboozled by the visuals.

Several other factors help Lollipop work well with viewers despite its not-so-new theme, right from the performances of Sudhakar Komakula, Ananya Sharma, Jai Jasti and Meghana Sunil to Vinay Shanmukh's classy picturisation and Vijai Bulganin's mellifluous score. Sid Sriram's voice is just the icing on the cake. The beauty of Lollipop is its simplicity, nothing is overdone beyond a point musically and technically, the story is crisp and the contributions come together neatly. Sri Bhrami pens the brief dialogues while Mohan Reddy is the executive producer. Bhanu (Master) and Pavan (Reflection) have choreographed the video.
