Despite being a box-office success, Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal continues to face criticism from certain sections of the public. Since it's release, numerous celebrities have criticised the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer. Nitish Bhardwaj, who gained popularity for playing Lord Krishna in Mahabharat, is the most recently to criticise the film for its violent tone.

Nitish Bhardwaj expressed concern about the success of movies like Animal in a recent interview. "Action can be in veer rasa too but the film (Animal) is an expression of bibhastsa rasa in action as well as dialogues and behaviour," the actor told The Times of India. He also said that if more movies of this kind were produced and became popular, he would be worried. Despite being a huge fan of Ranbir's acting skills, the actor said that he was unable to stay beyond the intermission.

He also criticised OTT shows for their use of obscenities and violent language. He claimed that people had become desensitised to the use of foul language in online shows. He said, "I think this is where I would link it to OTT productions. The continuous use of cuss words in web series over the years has kind of legitimised the Vikriti in man and the audience seems to be enjoying it now because they are desensitised to its impact. Then it will soon show its effects elsewhere in the society."

Animal, which also stars Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, and Rashmika Mandanna, was criticized by numerous celebrities, including Javed Akhtar and Swanand Kirkire. Nitin Bhardwaj's review follows. The movie was a big hit at the box office, but because movies have a big impact on people all over the world, its depiction of toxicity has made it a hot topic of conversation.

Watch Tejas, Expendables 4, Australian Open, Cubicles 3, and more on OTTplay, by subscribing to the Jhakaas monthly pack, which provides access to 22 OTTs at just ₹49 for the first month.

Nitin Bhardwaj's focus on the OTT platforms also draws attention to the relevant problem that the entertainment industry is facing, which is the usage of profanity. It makes people think about their obligations as content producers as well as the possible social repercussions of media that normalise violence and foul language.
