Putham Pudhu Kaalai Vidiyaadhaa, the second instalment of Putham Pudhu Kaalai, started streaming on Amazon Prime Video from January 14. Balaji Mohan, Halitha Shameem, Madhumitha, Richard Anthony and Surya Krishna are the filmmakers who have directed each segment of the five-film anthology.

Quite similar to its first instalment, this time, too, the anthology deals with the lives of people who have to bear the brunt of lockdown. Balaji, Halitha and Madhumitha spoke in brief about their respective shorts in the anthology in a release issued by the digital platform.

Balaji Mohan, who directed Mugakavasa Mutham, which featured Teejay Arunasalm and Gouri G Kishan, said that when all of us were affected in various ways during the lockdown, he didn't want to come up with something which reminded people about difficulties thereby making things miserable for viewers.

According to him, he was keen on offering a ray of hope to the audience through his short during the tough times. He said, "I believe that the social responsibility of artists is to share positivity during uncertain times like this. Movie lovers who have watched my film can relate to it. I have to thank Amazon Prime Video as well for the opportunity offered to me."

Halitha Shameem, who made Loners with Lijomol Jose and Arjun Das, feels that narrating a story that viewers could relate in many ways gives her immense happiness. She believes that the second lockdown was too severe and that depicting the harsh realities was a daunting task.

She recollects, "The first lockdown had come to an end when we started filming. In fact, we had to recreate the ambience for the lockdown in the film. People were really used to doing video calls since the time the pandemic had hit us. As a filmmaker, for me, it was pleasantly challenging."

Madhumitha's Mouname Paarvayaai, which had Joju George and Nadia Moidu in lead roles, has been receiving unanimous positive reviews. She points out that people from different walks of life experienced several difficulties pertaining to communication during the time of COVID-19.

She said, "There have been many restrictions in our homes with regard to staying away from our own family members. We had to avoid visiting friends and guests and ensure that they do not visit us as well. The idea behind Mouname Paarvayaai was based on such situations."
