The actor-director came to Kolkata on Monday to promote his directorial debut.
R Madhavan came to Kolkata to promote his upcoming film Rocketry: The Nambi Effect which will hit the theatres on July 1. The film that features Madhavan, Simran, Rajit Kapur and several others was shot simultaneously in English, Hindi and Tamil.
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is a biographical drama based on the life of Nambi Narayanan, who was a scientist and aerospace engineer at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). He was falsely accused of espionage and then fought for justice. Madhavan, while meeting the media, said that when he heard about Nambi Narayanan’s achievements, the actor felt that a film should be made about him. “I felt his story must reach out to people,” he said. The actor also mentioned that the scientist spoke about his achievements pretty casually.
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect follows the scientist’s life since his university days at Princeton, USA, and focuses on his work. Later, it unfolds the false charges and his plight. Talking about the multilingual nature of the film, Madhavan also said that if he had time he would have made it in Bengali too. The actor explained that because of his Jamshedpur background, he loves the Bengali language.
Talking about working on romantic films, the Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein actor said that he would like to be cast in roles that match his age. He categorically mentioned that he can’t romance a young girl on screen anymore.
Meanwhile, Madhavan was trolled after he said ISRO used the Panchangam (Hindu Calendar) to successfully launch the PSLV C-25 rocket to Mars. On Sunday, he took to Twitter to admit and accept his ‘ignorance’. He tweeted, “I deserve this for calling the Almanac the “Panchang” in Tamil. Very ignorant of me. Though this cannot take away for the fact that what was achieved with just 2 engines by us in the Mars Mission. A record by itself. @NambiNOfficial Vikas engine is a rockstar.”
