The long-pending Tamil film Madha Gaja Raja, which has been in the can for years now, is all set to see daylight soon. The film will be joining the Pongal race and hit theatres on January 12. The announcement was made on Friday on social media. The film stars Vishal in the lead role and is directed by Sundar C.

Madha Gaja Raja release date out

Madha Gaja Raja is a Tamil comedy film which has been in the can since its production in 2012. Although the film was completed by 2013, it remained unreleased for long due to financial troubles. In fact, the first official trailer of the film was released about 11 years back on YouTube. Madha Gaja Raja stars Vishal in the lead role, with Santhanam, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Anjali and others playing prominent roles.

After multiple delays and postponements, the makers on Friday announced that Madha Gaja Raja will be releasing for Pongal on January 12. Helmed by filmmaker Sundar C, Madha Gaja Raja is touted to be a commercial entertainer and has music by Vijay Antony. It is produced by Gemini Film Circuit. Madha Gaja Raja is third collaboration between Vishal and Sundar C, after Aambala and Action.

Madha Gaja Raja and other Tamil films releasing for Pongal

Madha Gaja Raja became the latest in the slew of films that is scheduled to hit theatres for Pongal. It is the ripple effect of Ajith Kumar’s action thriller Vidaamuyarchi getting postponed from the festival window.

Nearly 6-7 films, including Jayam Ravi and Nithya Menen-starrer Kadhalikka Neramillai, Shane Nigam’s Tamil debut Madraskaaran, Mirchi Shiva-starrer Sumo, Sibi Satyaraj's 10 Hours, Arun Vijay's Vanangaan (which was already scheduled for Pongal), Aditi Shankar and Akash Murali’s Nesipayya, and Tharunam are opening for the Pongal weekend.
