Madanolsavam, which has Suraj Venjaramoodu and Babu Antony, is directed by debutant Sudheesh Gopinath
National Award-winning actor Suraj Venjaramoodu will be back to his forte – comedy – with debutant filmmaker Sudheesh Gopinath’s Madanolsavam. The movie also marks Suraj’s second collaboration with Android Kunjappan Ver. 5.25 director Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval, who has written Madanolsavam’s screenplay based on E Santosh Kumar’s story.
The film, which is set to be a Vishu release, also has Rajesh Madhavan, Babu Antony, Bhama Arun, Rakesh Ushar and PP Kunhikrishnan, who had played the magistrate in Ratheesh’s Kunchacko Boban-starrer Nna, Thaan Case Kodu last year.
What is the story of Madanolsavam?
Madanolsavam is touted to be a crime comedy which revolves around its titular character Madan (Suraj Venjaramoodu), who reportedly gets entangled in an issue and gets kidnapped in the process by a group of thugs. Madan, who colours chicken, reportedly gets an offer to colour the ostrich of a sheikh in Dubai but things turn topsy-turvy when several people get to him before that.
The past few years, Suraj has been flooded with character roles that he has been acing in movies such as Kaanekkaane and Jana Gana Mana. While the actor had expressed his interest in returning to comedy, his films Enkilum Chandrike and Madanolsavam is the first time that he is doing back-to-back comedy movies after a long gap.
When and where to watch Madanolsavam?
While the title of the movie has also been used in Kamal Haasan’s 1978 movie, the upcoming film has no connection to N Shankaran Nair-directorial. Sudheesh Gopinath’s film, which also has Ezra director Jay K as its creative producer, is a full-length crime comedy that will remind the audience of the past madcap comedies of Priyadarshan.
Madanolsavam, which is set to be a Vishu release, will hit theatres in Kerala on April 14 along with Shine Tom Chacko and Ahaana Krishna’s romantic drama Adi. Madanolsavam has Shehnaad Jalal as the cinematographer and Christo Xavier as its music director.
