Marvel’s latest superhero release, Madame Web, starring Dakota Johnson in the titular role alongside Sydney Sweeney, is receiving criticism for its flawed execution and direction. Despite a star-studded cast and Marvel’s legacy, netizens are not impressed with Madame Web. Some have even shared memes to express their frustration over the unstructured pace. Helmed by S.J. Clarkson, Madame Web was released in theatres on Valentine’s Day, i.e. February 14. Although it’s been a day since the release, the initial disappointing reviews will significantly impact its box office performance.

Twitterati react to Madame Web

Dakota Johnson, who rose to fame after her breakthrough role in the Fifty Shades franchise, has stepped into Marvel’s Spider-Manverse, in which she plays Cassandra Webb, aka Madame Web. Despite it being an eagerly anticipated film, the initial response on social media is nothing like the previous Sony Pictures installments. Several X (formerly Twitter) users expressed discontent and frustration with the poorly executed scenes and the loosely packed direction.

“Madam Web is so exhausting to watch; it made me physically ill; I had to throw up when I got home,” an X user shared after watching the film.

Several netizens also lashed out at the makers for skipping the post-credit scenes, while questioning the weak narrative and direction.
