By his own confession, Srijato’s directorial debut Manabjamin was much more than just a film for the makers. The Parambrata Chatterjee-Priyanka Sarkar’s film did not do well at the box office but kept its bigger promise. The cast and crew put the foundation stone of a free girls’ school in Salboni, Midnapore, during the promotion. Now, the building is almost completed. Manabjamin’s producer Rana Sarkar said that the inauguration of the school will take place before Durga Puja. The kids can start studying in a few days.

Irrespective of the film’s business, we proved that cinema has the power to change society. Team Manobjomin wanted to materialise the message given in the film.”
