It's official! Amazon Prime Video has bagged the digital rights of Sivakarthikeyan's upcoming film Maaveeran. The film, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Madonne Ashwin, has Aditi Shankar playing the leading lady. The makers of the film took to their social media handle to announce the news. "We're glad to announce @PrimeVideoIN as our digital partner for #Maaveeran/#Mahaveerudu @Siva_Kartikeyanb #MaaveeranOnPrime #VeerameJeyam @madonneashwin @AditiShankarofl @DirectorMysskin @iamarunviswa @vidhu_ayyanna @philoedit @bharathsankar12 @iYogiBabu @dineshmoffl (sic)." It is said that this is the highest rate for which a Sivakarthikeyan film has been sold to a digital media platform.

The film is bilingual and is titled Maaveerudu in Telugu. Mysskin, who had recently shared about his experience working with Sivakarthikeyan at an event in a college in Chennai, revealed that many years ago when people asked about Sivakarthikeyan, he had said that he didn't know. "I hadn't seen any of his work and I stuck to my guns. But many mistook me for saying that. But after years, when I got the opportunity to work with him, I realised that Sivakarthikeyan is someone who has come this far without any background in films. I have seen him work so hard, for 16-20 hours in a day. Use that in your own life."

The shoot for the film has been happening for a long time now. Cinematography is by Vidhu Ayyanna and editing is handled by Philomin While Raj Kumar Gangappan and Arun Venjaramoodu are in charge of the art direction, Yannick Ben is handling the stunts and Bharath Shankar is composing the music. Arun Viswa of Shanthi Talkies is bankrolling the project which is touted as an action drama.  Since Sivakarthikeyan's last release Prince opened to negative reviews and failed to set the cash registers ringing, a lot is riding on the film. In the meantime, Sivakarthikeyan, is also awaiting the release of the long-pending sci-fi flick Ayalaan helmed by Ramkumar.
