It wouldn't be an exaggeration to call Sivakarthikeyan's Maaveeran one of the most awaited films of the year. The film marks his maiden collaboration with National Award-winning director Madonne Ashwin and leading lady Aditi Shankar. Here's all you need to know about the film.

An impressive trailer
Going by the quirky trailer, Sivakarthikeyan plays a timid cartoonist, whose sketches on the fictional character Maaveeran come to life. And everytime the character comes alive, there is a sudden burst of energy in Sivakarthikeyan and his character undergoes a sea change. The trailer has many interesting moments.

A National-Award filmmaker's theatrical debut
Maaveeran is Mandela director's next after the National Award-winning project. Sivakarthikeyan had stated at the press meet that was mighty impressed with Mandela and hence, came on board. He added that Maaveeran has got a similar treatment and has a socially relevant theme.

A plot to keep you hooked
It's not often that one witnesses a superhero film and Maaveeran is an interesting addition to the list. Even as Sivakarthikeyan works under the guidance of the fictional character, he brings about lot of changes in the society. It also seems like he turns his life around with the help of the superhero.

Vijay Sethupathi joins the bandwagon

The team, today, announced that Vijay Sethupathi has provided the voice over for Maaveeran in the film. Sivakarthikeyan dropped a short video comprising Vijay Sethupathi's voiceover in which he says the film's tagline, "Veerame Jayam." The video has now gone viral on social media.

Mysskin and Sivakarthikeyan
Mysskin will be seen as the prime antagonist in this part-fantasy film. Mysskin plays a politician and it would be interesting to see his character and Sivakarthikeyan's at loggerheads. Saritha will be playing Sivakarthikeyan's mother.

Behind-the-scenes-footage
Sivakarthikeyan had dropped a picture from the set in which the makers are seen using the Mocobot camera. Interestingly, the Mocobot camera was used in films including Vijay's Beast and Kamal Haasan's Vikram. The cinematography for Maaveeran is by Vidhu Ayannna.

Bharath Shankar music

Bharath Shankar is back with his next project after Mandela, and the album also has a song sung by Sivakarthikeyan and Aditi Shankar himself. One of the songs is sung by the composer himself.

A July 2023 Release
The Madonne Ashwin-directorial was initially slated to hit screens on August 11, but the team advanced its release after Rajinikanth's Jailer team announced the film's date as August 10. The makers of Maaveeran zeroed in on July 14.

OTT Partner
It looks like Amazon Prime Video has bagged the digital rights of the film and the digital premiere is expected to happen a month after the film's theatrical release.
