Fans of Dhanush were disappointed when the makers of Maaran chose to skip theatrical release for the film. The Karthick Naren directorial which has Malavika Mohanan, Samuthirakani, Smruthi Venkat, Aadukalam Naren, Ilavarasu and Ameer essaying pivotal roles started streaming on Disney+ Hotstar a few hours ago.
This is the third continuous movie of Dhanush which has been released directly on OTT after Jagame Thandhiram and Atrangi Re. Though the film's trailer opened to mixed response from the star's fans and other movie buffs, all of them had pinned high hopes on Maaran. GV Prakash has composed music for the project which has action scenes choreographed by Stunt Silva.
Film lovers took to Twitter to share their opinion on the action thriller. Many were eager to watch Dhanush while some others had huge trust on Karthick Naren's story and execution. Some of them were impressed by its making and went on to say that the film should have been release in theatres.
However, it looks like a good number of film lovers are disappointed, going by the response on Twitter. Many expressed shock over how Dhanush agreed to an unimpressive story. A few were left disheartened by Karthick's poor execution and unbelievably bad choice of artist selection.
Maaran is available to watch in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam on Disney+ Hotstar. Dhanush's previous outing, Atrangi Re, too, had direct release on the platform. Fans of the actor are now looking forward to watching Naane Varuven, Vaathi and Thiruchitrambalam among others on the big screen .
Meanwhile, Karthick's next project is Nirangal Moondru, which has Atharvaa, Sarath Kumar and Rahman essaying pivotal roles in it. His sophomore film Naragasooran is yet to see the light of the day. It is expected that the thriller flick will have a direct OTT release later this year.
