Mari Selvaraj had stated at an event that he always wanted to work with Vadivelu. "I always wanted him to be part of my stories, and have been trying to include him in my films, right from Pariyerum Perumal. The character was written with him in mind. And if he didn't come on board, the idea was to drop the project altogether."
The film marks Udhayanidhi Stalin's last project as an actor after he took charge as the State Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports in Tamil Nadu. He announced his decision to quit acting soon after he was appointed as the minister in the state cabinet.
