The shooting of Seenu Ramasamy's Maamanithan starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead, was wrapped up in early 2019. However, the film has been lying in the cans for a while. The actor plays an auto driver who goes through severe identity crisis in this family drama.

Produced by Yuvan Shankar Raja's YSR Films Pvt Ltd, the movie brings together Ilaiyaraaja and the former for the first time. The father-son duo has composed for the movie which has cinematography by M Sukumar and editing by Sreekar Prasad. A lion's share of the movie's shooting happened in Kerala.

The makers have now released the film's teaser through Yuvan's social media. He posted the one-minute teaser from his Twitter account with the post, "Happy to present you the teaser of #MaaManithan. Hope you all like it!." It begins with Manasvi, who plays Sethupathi's daughter in it, asking him to narrate a story.

He narrates his own story to his daughter. The actor essays Radha Krishnan, who has his own goals and desires in life, apart from being a dutiful family man.

The film's story revolves around how Radha Krishnan's life becomes a mess due to unanticipated issues in the family. Gayathrie, Guru Somasundaram and veteran Mollywood actress KPAC Lalitha are also seen in the movie's teaser.

Vijay Sethupathi dancing along with Aghoras is one of the highlights of Maamanithan's teaser. It is expected that the makers are likely to announce the project's release date soon. The movie marks the fourth collaboration of Vijay and Seenu after Thenmerku Paruvakaatru and Dharma Durai (streaming on Sun NXT, MX Player and Jio Cinema). Their second project, Idam Porul Yaeval is yet to see the light of the day.
