The film stars Vijay Sethupathi and Gayathrie Shankar in the lead
It looks like the Maamanithan team is going places. The latest we hear about the film is that Gayathrie Shankar has bagged the Best Actress award for her performance in the film at the Jaipur International Film Festival. Taking to his social media handle, the film's director Seenu Ramasamy wrote, "On 15th Jaipur International Film Festival #Maamanithan Movie Awarded for 'Best Actresses' To @SGayathrie Actress #Aparnasen presented the awards (sic)."
The plot revolves around a humble auto driver who gets cheated by a real estate agent. Maamanithan has been hauling awards in different categories at multiple film festivals, which include Tagore International Film Festival, Tokyo Film Awards, Calcutta International Cult Film Festival, Cannes World Film Festival, DRUK International Film Festival to name a few. The film stars Vijay Sethupathi and Gayathrie Shankar in the lead along with KPAC Lalitha, Guru Somasundaram, Anikha Surendran, Jewel Mary and Shaji Chen.
The music for the film is by Yuvan Shankar Raja, Karthik Raja and Ilaiyaraaja. And this is the first time that the father-son duo are teaming up for a film.While the cinematography is by M Sukumar, editing is by A Sreekar Prasad. The film is now streaming on Aha Tamil, and the satellite rights of the film are with Zee Tamil.
While Vijay Sethupathi has just wrapped up the shoot of Vetri Maaran's Viduthalai, he also has a series of projects lined up, which includes his OTT debut, Farzi in which he will share screen space with Shahid Kapoor, Merry Christmas, Jawan, Mumbaikar to name a few. Gayathrie, on the other hand, is basking in the success of her recent release Udanpaal, a fun laugh riot directed by Karthik Sreenivasan streaming on Aha Tamil. The film also stars Charle, Vivek Prasanna, Linga, Abarnathi, Dheena to name a few. The team recently celebrated their success in the ofifice.
