Actor, writer Harshavardhan is wielding the megaphone for the project
Sudheer Babu, who recently finished shooting for his father-son drama Maa Nanna Superhero, is gearing up for the release of another film. His crime comedy, Maama Mascheendra, that marks the directorial debut of actor-writer Harshavardhan, is set to hit screens on October 6, the makers confirmed on Wednesday. Mirnalini Ravi, Eesha Rebba play the female leads in the film.
Maama Mascheendra is produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under Sree Venkateswara Cinemas. The crime comedy is special for another reason - it’s the first time that Sudheer Babu is essaying a triple role in a film. He’ll be seen as an ageing don, an obese youngster desperate for love and a happening DJ. What brings them together? You’ll know in a month’s time.

The teaser of Maama Mascheendra, offering a glimpse of the film’s premise, introducing all the major characters in the story was out recently and opened to good responses. RX 100, Manmadhudu 2 fame Chaitan Bharadwaj composes the songs, Praveen Lakkaraju handles the background score. The first single, titled Gaalullona, sung by Kapil Kapilan, Nutana Mohan, was launched this May.
Expressing his happiness about its release, Sudheer Babu wrote, “Get ready for Triple Fun, Triple Emotions, Triple Drama & Triple Action. All happening from 6th October. #MaamaMascheendra is a distinctively unique entertainer, you will love it in theatres.” PG Vinda cranks the camera for the crime saga and Rajeev Nair is the art director. Senior technician Marthand K Venkatesh is the editor.
Sonali Narang, Srishti are the presenters. Harsha Vardhan, Ali Reza, Rajeev Kanakala, Hariteja, Ajay, Mirchi Kiran play supporting roles in the film. Leading streamer aha has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of Maama Mascheendra and is expected to premiere the film on OTT in the first half of November 2023. Aditya Music bagged the music rights.
