Amruth Apartments is the directorial debut of Gururaj Kulkarni, whose introduction to showbiz was as producer of the Kannada film Last Bus. This, incidentally, was a film made by SD Arvinda, for which he had composed the music as well. Now that Gururaj has turned director, Arvinda is filling in as composer yet again. The film, we hear, is ready for release and the team has been dropping songs in the run up to it. While it was Naavu Bandeva a couple of weeks earlier, today, they released the lyrical video of Shuru Agabeku Eega, written by K Kalyan and sung by Ajay Warrier and Vani Harikrishna. Interestingly, unlike most other lyrical videos that have been releasing, Shuru Agabeku Eega has the lyrics written in Kannada and not English alphabets.

Written by the filmmaker himself, the film traces the journey of a young couple who are contemplating divorce, when they get pulled into an investigation of a certain incident as witnesses. Tarak Ponnappa and Urvashi Goverdhan play the couple, while Manasa Joshi is the investigating officer. The film also stars Balaji Manohar, Seeta Kote and Sampath Kumar.

According to Gururaj, Tarak and Urvashi play a Kannadiga and Bengali respectively, who fall in love, get married and then realise that each of them has quirks that the other person cannot digest. “There are simple things, like, the fact that he does not like the smell of non-vegetarian food cooked in their home. The film provides an intimate look at couples who commit to a relationship without too much thought, and, while still very much in love, invest together in housing, automobiles and other luxuries of life. The question is whether their love can conquer any hardships they may encounter along the way. The film has been shot in Bengaluru and is majorly set in an apartment. We have also explored the apartment culture, wherein you have people from different regions in one society, who may or may not know each other,” says Gururaj.
