Set in the 1980s, the Telugu crime drama follows a middle-class man named Baskhar Kumar, who works at a bank but is struggling to make ends meet. After being passed on for promotion despite his impeccable work, Baskhar gets frustrated with the system and looks for better 'ways' to make quick money. Though a fictional tale, the film is said to be inspired by real incidents of the late 1980s and early 1990s. However, the makers have clarified that the film is not a biopic.
This is Dulquer Salmaan’s third movie in Telugu cinema in a leading role after the award-winning Mahanati which starred Keerthy Suresh, and the period romantic drama Sita Ramam, alongside Mrunal Thakur. He had also appeared in a cameo role in Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD.
Speaking about the film earlier in an exclusive interview with OTTplay, Dulquer Salmaan said that the film allowed him to explore a completely new side of himself. “Audiences will see me in a totally new light in this film,” he promised.
The film, which was announced in 2023, faced some issues and was postponed multiple times, which even upset the leading man. But going by the reactions on social media after the film's grand release on Diwali, the Dulquer Salmaan-starrer seems to be truly worth the wait.
