The Tom Ellis-starrer is returning for its final run, with the Devil adjusting to his new status as God,
Tom Ellis in and as Lucifer
Originally intended to end after a five-season run, Lucifer is back with a sixth one. In an exciting turn of events, Tom Ellis shared a first image from the upcoming instalment. Chronicling the tale of Lucifer Morningstar, the ruler of Hell, the series narrates his journey after he descends to earth, dissatisfied with his life in the netherworld, presenting situations that may awaken the soul of the Soulless.
Taking to his Instagram handle on Thursday, the lead actor shared the first look of the sixth instalment. Posing with a DeLorean, the devil wrote good things are coming. However, being a behind-the-scenes shot, it doesn’t reveal much about the plot and what’s in store for Lucifer S6. Going from the ruler of Hell to God is quite a big change, and it will be entertaining to see how Lucifer will use his fresh powers, whether to help or harm people. Maybe, his first order of business is buying a car to pose around in LA. Only time will tell.
The fifth season of the show streamed on Netflix at the end of May, delivering a chapter of game-changing twists for the series. While we witnessed the devastating loss of Dan Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro), Lucifer received quite the promotion from dear old Dad (Dennis Haysbert). By the end of part two, the Devil had formally been proclaimed as the new God. The 10 episodes of the final season will deal with this gigantic change, and it is also expected to affect Lucifer’s relationship with Chloe Decker (Lauren German).
In a chat with Collider, showrunner Joe Henderson claimed season six to be the most intimate season till now, in spite of having the most expensive episodes. Since it has only been two months since the arrival of season five, we shouldn’t expect the sixth season just yet. The earliest the series can return is the end of this year, but early 2022 is the best bet we can place.
