Deepika Padukone’s cameo and Orry’s casting add intrigue to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest spectacle, "Love & War."
The cast of Love & War the much-anticipated film by Sanjay Leela Bhansali has just become more intriguing. As per the latest reports, joining Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal in the film is social media phenomenon Orry, whose real name is Orhan Awatramani. According to reports, Deepika Padukone will also feature in the romantic drama.
India Today has learnt from a source close to the production that Love & War will feature Orry, a homosexual character who serves as Alia's best friend. Alia will be playing the role of a cabaret dancer, while Ranbir and Vicky will portray Indian military officers.
As of this report, not much is known about Deepika's character. With Bhansali, the actor has already worked on critically praised films such as Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela Bajirao Mastani, and Padmaavat.
Earlier, when asked if Love & War was based on Raj Kapoor's Sangam Bhansali responded to The Hollywood Reporter India, "Not at all." This was in response to several online users who had asserted the idea.
The filmmaker went on to say that Sangam is a wonderful film, and he has seen it. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam is similar to Sangam. Bhansali attempted to transform Aishwarya Rai into Vyjayanthimala from Sangam. Despite his deep affection for Raj Kapoor, the film is clearly not Sangam. Remaking a masterpiece by a brilliant director is never a beneficial idea. Bhansali went on to ask how one would go about recreating Mughal-E-Azam Sangam, or Pakeezah. Heeramandi honours Pakeezah, demonstrating his devotion to Kamal Amrohi. Furthermore, there were doubts about his motivation for remaking Sangam.
Bhansali revealed his immense anticipation for Love & War. Despite the passing of time, it remains a remarkable film. The film has lost its pillars, costumes, and horses. It's modern; it's unique. The music is unique, and he is having fun with it. The filmmaker has fantastic performers on his roster. He will take his time and do this project right since he struggles.
March 20, 2026 is when the epic saga, Love & War billed as a spectacular film, is expected to be released in theatres.
