Lopamudra Mitra spent more than 30 years in the Bengali music industry. The singer of Dhadhina Natina has inspired many people and witnessed changes in the musical world. Lopamudra lamented a few months back that the condition of independent Bengali songs is not good. Nowadays, even senior artistes depend on macha shows – local live shows around Bengal – in order to sustain themselves. But the experience is not always good. Lopamudra once faced a horrible incident while doing such a show.

The eminent singer recently shared the incident on a web platform. She went to Amdanga for a show arranged by the police. It was a one-hour show, and she readied the playlist consisting of her iconic songs. She sang songs like Aay Aay Ke Jabi, Hrid Majhare, and Dhadhina Natina. But the response to those songs was shocking.

Lopamudra said, “I was singing Sundari Kamala and Dhadhina Natina, but no one was listening. They kept on saying 'Go down from the stage'.” She was annoyed but kept on singing because she was a professional. She then retaliated, “Listen, I was called to sing for one hour. If someone can kick me from the stage before one hour is spent, then come forward.”

After that, no one dared to say anything. She finished her show. Her video was viral on Facebook and attracted discussions. One person wrote, “I was also present there. I never forgot the atmosphere and how she was treated. Awful.” Many people do not want to listen to Bengali songs in macha shows. Several artistes faced such situations. Iman Chakraborty and Nachiketa even reprimanded the audience. Some people asked Iman to sing Layla in one of her shows last year. The singer retorted, “Who is Layla? If you do not want to hear Bengali songs, then go back home.”
