Lootere teaser: Rajat Kapoor battles terror in Hansal Mehta’s next

The show is helmed by Hansal's son Jai Mehta.

Hansal Mehta is back with a new show, titled Lootere. This time too, he has tapped into an artist who is recognized as one of the most underrated actors – Rajat Kapoor. With the actor in the lead, he promises a gripping tale of terror.

The teaser of this show is out and it sees a boat getting hijacked. Soon, violence follows. There is torture, death and destroying things all around.

Hansal Mehta also makes a cameo appearance in the video. He is seen behind-the-sets as he figures how to go about a few scenes in the series.

The show is based in Somalia, which has been the breeding ground for such hijacks. Interestingly, there is an American film on Somalia hijack already. The movie, Captain Phillips, features Tom Hanks in the lead role.

Whether Lootere is an adaptation of the film (which itself was adapted from the novel A Captain's Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea) or talks about another incident involving the Indian boat, is yet to be revealed. The makers have not yet called the series an adaptation or one that is based on true events.

Directed by Hansal’s son Jai Mehta, the show also features Vivek Gomber, Deepak Tijori, Chandan Roy Sanyal and Amruta Khanvilkar in pivotal roles. They were, however, not a part of the teaser.

Lootere has been unveiled as a part of Hotstar Plus day. The release date of this show is yet to be confirmed.
