The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) released its fifth list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 on Sunday. The new list features some of the renowned faces, from the acting field to industrialists. Actors Kangana Ranaut and Arun Govil will be contesting in the upcoming elections from their respective states. Both Kangana and Arun's name featured on the 5th list of 111 candidates that was published today. The list also includes industrialist Naveen Jindal from Haryana’s Kurukshetra. Kangana got the ticket for Himachal’s Mandi, while Arun Govil will be contesting from Meerut.
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut had a fulfilling birthday yesterday, and today is more special as she will be contesting from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi, which is the district of her hometown Bhambla. The actress turned to politics with a ticket from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Saffron Party who is also her idol.
Kangana also expressed gratitude to be officially a part of her beloved political party BJP. Sharing on social media, Kangana wrote, “My beloved Bharat and Bhartiya Janta’s own party, Bharatiya Janta party (BJP) has always had my unconditional support, today the national leadership of BJP has announced me as their Loksabha candidate from my birth place Himachal Pradesh, Mandi (constituency).” Check out her full tweet below:
Arun Govil, who is popular for playing Ram in the epic TV serial Ramayan, will be contesting for the Lok Sabha Polls from UP’s Meerut. Former Calcutta High Court Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay has also fielded the seat in the fifth list of candidates, as he will be contesting for the Tamluk seat in West Bengal.
The upcoming Lok Sabha Elections for 2024 will begin from April19 and conclude on June 1. They will be conducted in seven phases. All major political parties are currently gearing up to conduct rallies for the elections. BJP had previously dropped its fourth list of candidates, primarily focusing on Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Some notable personalities included actor-politician Raadhika Sarathkumar from Virudhnagar and Pon V Balaganapathy from Tiruvallur, among several others.

In the fifth list, 111 candidates have been fielded for seats in 16 different states, like Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Goa, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, and others.
Maneka Gandhi will again be contesting from Sultanpur this year, while her son Varun Gandhi has dropped out of the upcoming polls.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is up against K. Surendran for the Wayanad seat.
