Ensemble movies have their charm because, if made well with brilliant actors, they play off each other's energies and create something very unique and entertaining. Logan Lucky a film that was released last year, was one of the most headline-making movies of the year. And rightly so, because the ensemble drama starred not one or two but nine massive names from the West, including Daniel Craig, Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, Riley Keough, Katie Holmes, Katherine Waterston, Dwight Yoakam, Sebastian Stan, and Hilary Swank. The band marched to the big screen and impressed everyone who saw the film. But one character and actor that stood out was Joe Bang, played by the James Bond star Craig. Did you know that there was a sequel planned with him at the center?

Logan Lucky Scrapped Sequel Ft. Daniel Craig

Well, if that is new to you, fans on the release of Logan Lucky had almost started a movement to bring back Joe Bang in a separate movie altogether. And it turns out their demands were not falling on deaf ears; the makers actually had a plan to revive the character for a sequel. And no, this is not just a rumor—there were plenty of those too—but we are discussing what director Steven Soderbergh revealed back in the day. For the uninitiated, even when the reviews were on their side, Logan Lucky only managed to earn $27 million at the domestic box office. However, there were many parallels and stories teased in the climax. Read on to know everything you should about the same.

Steven Soderbergh, as per Comicbook, spoke in a Reddit AMA after the release where he revealed that they were planning a follow-up for Logan Lucky quickly afterward, but things clearly didn't work out. "WELL, we had a prequel all teed up about how Joe Bang got thrown in jail, but when the movie didn't perform well enough to justify another go, we dropped the idea."

Who Is Joe Bang?

Daniel Craig played Joe Bang and proved his never-ending range as an actor. An explosives expert who has to break out of jail to help the team, he is the only one who knows how to blow up a bank vault. In this case, a prequel about how he landed in jail in the first place could have worked well.

Starring Adam Driver, Channing Tatum, Daniel Craig, Riley Keough, and an ensemble cast, the movie has now been added to the coming soon list on Lionsgate Play. It sits with Nicolas Cage's Arcadian Brie Larson's Room, and Mandy Moore's Dr. Death Season 2. All these are in the pipeline for the month of July. The platform is yet to confirm the date for the same. But one thing is sure: you are about to be pulled into the world of Logan Lucky.

Logan Lucky will soon be released on Lionsgate Play, and you can watch it with your OTTplay Premium subscription too. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more information on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
