The other contestant who's confirmed for the reality show is Nisha Rawal.
The new upcoming reality show, Lock Upp, which marks the OTT debut and hosting debut of Kangana Ranaut, has made heads turn since its announcement. The show, created by Ekta Kapoor, will have 16 contestants locked up in cells for 72 days. The makers have revealed the names of a few contestants and one of them to be confirmed is the stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui.
The makers had recently dropped a promo video, announcing him as an inmate no.2. But Faruqui has been critical of Ranaut on social media. He has also roaster her in one of his comedy videos. The comedian joked about the 'conspiracy' against him by Kangana Ranaut and others. He talked about how every place he was going to was being called, 'Pakistan'. He also took a dig at Kangana receiving security from 2,000 personnel when she was returning to Mumbai as her office was being razed by the local municipal corporation.
Watch the clip from 5.45 to 7.31 to hear the jokes about Ranaut.
The contestants are expected to perform tasks, assigned by Ranaut to claim their freedom. Since the two have different ideologies, it is likely to lead to a lot of drama and altercation. Faruqui had earlier said in an interview with The Indian Express that it will have to be a give and take situation. "If someone believes in ideologies, they would also believe that we live in a democratic country. We all have the freedom of speech and to put across our beliefs. If one expects to be heard and their opinions respected, they too would have to do the same," he had said.
Meanwhile, Lock Upp will start streaming from February 27. The show will be available 24x7 and can be viewed on both AltBalaji and MX Player.
