Even if you haven't followed sports or specifically wrestling, you'll still recognise this contestant, thanks to Amir Khan's Dangal. Babita Phogat and her elder sister Geeta Phogat have been some of the most famous sports personalities in India.

How did she forrayed into wrestling?

Babita has been a wrestler since her teenage, however, she got recognition as a professional wrestler after she bagged the gold medal in freestyle wrestling in the 51kg category in the 2009 Commonwealth Wrestling Championship at Jalandhar, Punjab.

How she made India proud?

The professional wrestler has won many hearts and made India proud by winning a lot of national championships and international competitions as well. After winning gold in the 2009 Commonwealth Wrestling Championship, Babita won silver in Commonwealth Games in the year 2010, following that she won her second gold medal in the 2011 Commonwealth Wrestling Championship.

She later won a few silver and bronze medals, while in 2014 bagged another gold in Glasgow 2014.

Babita's political career

After getting married to fellow wrestler Vivek Suhag in 2019, she joined BJP as her first step into politics in the same year, however, she lost her first Haryana assembly elections.

Her switch to reality shows

In 2019, she was seen in her first reality show. Acclaimed wrestlers Babita Phogat and her husband Vivek Suhag were seen in Nach Baliye 9. While, after a few weeks the couple got eliminated from the dance reality show.
