Live, which is helmed by VK Prakash, also has Soubin Shahir and Shine Tom Chacko as part of the cast
Director VK Prakash’s latest multi-starrer Live, which is scripted by S Suresh Kumar, will be heading to OTT soon. The thriller, which hit theatres in May, didn’t get a great response in theatres, but will have a better reach when it drops on a streaming platform.
The film, which is touted to be a social thriller, has Mamta Mohandas, Shine Tom Chacko, Soubin Shahir and Priya Prakash Varrier essaying the lead characters.
What is Live about?
The movie revolves around the incidents that plague Priya Prakash Varrier and Mamta Mohandas’ characters Anna and Dr Amala Sreeram, respectively. After the former is arrested by police for mistaking her to be part of a sex and drugs racket, sections of the media sensationalise the news, without bothering to verify the facts. This prompts Dr Amala Sreeram, who is already contending with cyber harassment, and her friends to take on a media company. Will the women be able to bring down the media outlet and get them to state the truth, form the plot of the film.
In an earlier interview with us, VK Prakash, whose previous film Oruthee also showcased the plight of a woman, said, “Through the movie, I am not blaming anyone – the public or the media. For instance, we try to show the pressure that each side goes through. Earlier, you only had to create news content for 30 minutes, but now you have 24/7 news channels that need content to run. So, the demand for creating or finding news has exploded.”
The movie has Soubin essaying the role of Dr Amala Sreeram’s husband while Shine Tom plays the antagonistic role of a cut-throat journalist, who goes to any length for ratings.
When and where to watch Live on OTT?
The OTT rights of Live has been bagged by Manorama Max, which is expected to begin streaming the film by the end of June. The movie will also be available on OTTplay Premium.
