The two said that they could play the characters easily for the fourth season.
Mithila Palkar and Dhruv Sehgal have made their way into the hearts of OTT audiences as Dhruv and Kavya from Netflix’s Little Things. The slice-of-life series is about a young couple who keeps finding their way back to each other while navigating their relationship, ambitions, careers and life itself. The fourth and final season of Little Things takes the dynamics of the couple into a mature relationship from being young lovers.
Speaking to IndiaTV news, Palkar said that the ‘fresh-yet-raw’ take on love and romance worked for the series. Both Dhruv and Mithila have been well-appreciated by the audiences for their performance in the three seasons. Their fourth and final season will premiere on Netflix on October 15.
Mithila, who has films like Katti Batti and the Irrfan Khan starrer Karwaan to her credit, described the series as ‘too special’ and ‘something that is wholesome.’ She further said that the ‘earnestness, honestness of the characters’ and the fact that Dhruv and Kavya are people whom we have all seen in our lives, helped it strike a connection with the audience. As newbies, both she and Dhruv hadn’t thought that it would become this ‘big.’
Dhruv, on the other hand, said that the ‘realistic genre’ worked positively for the show. "The genre was not new and path breaking but the idea of it was life-like and real,” he said, while adding that the challenge was in putting love under the lens of a realistic story and not ‘dramatic events.’
While the two easily slide into their roles, they do not find the beats of the characters predictable in any way and rather can still trace the nuances.
From here on, Mithila and Dhruv want to take up challenging roles. The actress said that she wants to break away from the mould of playing characters that are ‘close to her own personality.’ Dhruv also said he wants to do diverse roles, to ‘explore characters in great depth' as a writer-director or actor. The 31-year old actor concluded by saying that he looks to imbue his work with ‘truth and honesty,’ whatever the medium be
Little Things is backed by Dice Media. Abhinandan Sridhar, Nupur Pai, Garima Pura Patiyaalvi and Gaurav Patk have written the show that is helmed by Ruchir Arun and Pranjal Dua.
