The unique premise

Director Krish Jagarlamudi succeeded in creating a unique cinematic experience around a premise that is not so familiar to the Telugu film industry. The filmmaker-writer took five unique storylines that revolves around five drastically different individuals – rockstar Vivek Chakarvarthy, a sex worker named Saroja, weaver Ramulu, Rahimuddin Qureshi, and Anand Raj aka Cable Raju. These five stories are linked by a common factor – a hospital in Hyderabad – that changes their lives forever.

The performances

Allu Arjun, who played the role of Cable Raju, Manchu Manoj who appeared as rockstar Vivek, Nagayya who played Ramulu, Manoj Bajpayee who appeared as Rahim, and others played their parts to near perfection. However, it is Anushka Shetty, known for her performances in glamorous and historical roles till then, who surprised the audiences with her exceptional transformation as Saroja. The celebrated actress eventually reprised her role in Vedam’s Tamil remake, Vaanam.

Music by MM Keeravani

The Academy Award-winning senior musician did an excellent job as always with the catchy songs and soulful background score of Vedam. The album consisted of 12 songs, most of them sung by MM Keeravani himself. However, it is the ‘Egiripothe Entha Baguntundi’ song which is sung by the music director along with Sunitha Upadrashta, that emerged as an instant chartbuster in Telugu states. Interestingly, leading man Allu Arjun turned playback singer for the ‘"Prapancham Naaventa Vasthunte’ in the film.
