The film is about a rich young man who runs away from home to chase love and ends up doing housework to win over his girlfriend's family. There, he meets Meena Nath (Karishma Kapoor), the granddaughter of Dinanath, the patriarch of a joint family. The two fall in love and decide to get married, but when Meena's parents object, Rajesh decides to win them over by doing housework and pretending to be a very talented man.

After they investigate, it is revealed that the crimes are committed by people who look like them. The film became one of the highest-grossing Hindi movies in 1998.
