With just one more day to go, all eyes are set on filmmaker Venkat Prabhu who is expecting the release of The GOAT - Greatest of All Time starring Vijay in the lead role. The film is all set to hit theatres on September 5. Venkat Prabhu has carved a niche for himself as a storyteller, who has dabbled with high-concept screenplays and emerged victorious. Ahead of The GOAT release, here are five of Venkat Prabhu’s films that you can stream, most of which are available on OTTplay Premium.

Chennai 600028 (SunNXT)

Chennai 600028 marks the debut of Venkat Prabhu as director. The film revolves around street cricket and the rivalry between two local teams. It explores the themes of friendship, sportsmanship, romance, betrayal, and companionship. Actors Jai, Shiva, Premgi Amaren, Aravind Akash, Nithin Sathya, Vijay Vasanth, Prasanna, Vijayalakshmi Feroz, and others are part of the cast. Chennai 600028 became one of the iconic sports-dramas in Tamil cinema. The filmmaker subsequently made a sequel titled Chennai 600028 2.

Maanaadu (SonyLIV)

Maanaadu is headlined by Silambarasan and is a political thriller with a time loop concept. It revolves around an NRI who comes down to India to attend his friend’s wedding. However, he gets stuck in a time loop, which makes him experience the same day over and over again. This makes him realise that he is also responsible for stopping the assassination of a chief minister. The film also features SJ Suryah, Kalyani Priyadarshan, SA Chandrasekhar, and others.

Goa (SunNXT)

Goa is a buddy comedy drama starring Vaibhav, Jai and Premgi in the lead roles. The film revolves around three friends who leave their rural hometown to come to Goa. After getting to the modern and free lifestyle of the coastal place, each them mark in a romantic endeavor. Goa is one of the first few films which progressively showed one of the main characters to be homosexual. Actors Sneha, Pia Bajpai, Sampath, and others play the supporting roles, with Silambarasan and Nayanthara appearing in guest roles.

Mankatha (SunNXT)

Mankatha is Ajith Kumar’s 50th film and a heist thriller. The film is a commercial blockbuster of all time in Ajith’s career. It revolves around a group of youngsters who plan to conduct a heist related to cricket gambling. Actors Arjun, Andrea, Trisha, Anjali, Vaibhav, Premgi, and others are part of the film. Mankatha was highly praised for its screenplay and Ajith’s performance.

Saroja (Prime Video)

Saroja is about four youngsters who travel from one city to another to watch a cricket match. However, this leads them to witness a kidnap of a young girl, by a gang for a ransom. The rest of the film is about how the youngsters save the girl. The film stars Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Shiva, Vaibhav, Premji, SP Charan, Vega Tamotia, Sampath Raj, Nikita Thukral, Bose Venkat and Kajal Aggarwal and others.
